In partnership with CPRE Gloucestershire, we are hosting six hedge laying days here at Sapperton Wilder. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn this traditional countryside skill by working alongside a professional hedge layer who will guide you throughout the day.
Hedge laying is a traditional management practice that rejuvenates aging hedges and maximises the ecological benefit of the hedge. Left unmanaged, even the finest hedge can become thin, gappy and tired. Properly laid, it can live on for generations.
The training courses form part of CPRE Gloucestershire’s Hedgerow Heroes project and, thanks to their successful funding application, they are able to make these hedge laying training days more accessible through heavily subsidised course fees.
